At the Watson Hunting Camp we specialize in offering you a High Quality Hunting Experience. Located in the heart of the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Refuge in western Minnesota, the hunting opportunities available at our camp are very diverse and plentiful.

Our Canada goose hunts are not what you typically expect from the Lac Qui Parle area. Unlike the traditional state blind pass shooting method, at the Watson Hunting Camp WE DO NOT PASS SHOOT GEESE! Owner Chuck Ellingson offers a fully guided Canada goose hunting experience over high quality decoys in pre-scouted fields with quality goose calling to ensure In-Your-Face Decoying Canada Geese!

We also offer guided duck hunts on Big Water Reservoirs over large spreads of decoys for Mallards and Divers! These hunts take place out of our 17’ boat blind, over big decoy spreads. Included in your hunt is a “Hot Breakfast” on the boat. We also have heaters on board and comfortable chairs to ensure a satisfying duck hunting experience.

In addition to our waterfowl hunts, we also specialize in Premier Western Minnesota Pheasant Hunting! You have the option of a Traditional Wild Bird Hunt on 800 acres of private land and over 3,000 acres of area public land or we can provide a Preserve Style Pheasant Hunt on 165 acres of pristine western Minnesota prairie!

Don't forget about the Monster Whitetails that call the Lac Qui Parle area home. We have 400 acres of private land that abuts the Lac Qui Parle Refuge and offer Archery, Shotgun and Muzzleloader Whitetail Deer Hunts. First Class Lodging and Catered Meals are all available in every hunting package that we offer!

WATERFOWL

Our Canada Goose Hunts
At The Watson Hunting Camp we offer a different style of Canada goose hunt then most Lac Qui Parle Goose Hunters are used to. Instead of pass shooting geese out of pre determined blind or pit positions, that have proven to be highly unsuccessful for hundreds of hunters each year……

We offer a Fully Guided Canada goose hunt over large spreads of the highest quality goose decoys on the market. You can expect to hunt pre-scouted fields that have actually had geese feeding in them the night before instead of hoping for a high wind that may or may not drive the birds to fly low the next day.

You can also expect to be hunt out of comfortable layout ground blinds with an experienced guide that knows how to call and land Canada geese. Be assured that if you book a guided Canada goose hunt with The Watson Hunting Camp you will not have to worry about taking shots over 40 yards and you can expect to shoot landing Canada geese for a truly “In Your Face” hunting experience!

Our Big Water Duck Hunts
At The Watson Hunting Camp we also offer big water duck hunts. We have access to several of the largest bodies of water in western Minnesota including the infamous Marsh Lake and Lac Qui Parle Lake, both of which draw thousands of Mallards and Divers each fall. With equipment such as head waterfowl guide Matt Endrizzi's 17 foot enclosed boat blind which comes fully equipped with heaters and breakfast facilites when those late morning hungers strike. This is a classic Minnesota duck hunt over large spreads of decoys and grade "A" calling from southern Illinois finest!

Upland

Our Guided Upland Bird Hunts
At the Watson Hunting Camp we offer premier upland bird hunting for both pheasants and Minnesota's newest game bird, doves. Our pheasant hunts are first class and we have the option of providing you with a traditional wild bird hunt or for a more relaxing hunt enjoy a preserve hunt on over 165 acres of gorgeous western Minnesota prairie. We can also aid in the hunt with our professionally trained dogs and experienced guides.

Our All Wild Bird Pheasant Hunts are a main attraction in western Minnesota. We offer over 800 acres of private land which hold hundreds of wild pheasants year round. We also have access to thousands and thousands of public land in the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Management Area. Some of this public ground does get hit pretty hard throughout the season but there are plenty of little sleeper spots. Tie in a wild pheasant hunt with a duck or goose combo hunt and you’re in for a real treat.

Our Preserve Pheasant Hunts are a one of a kind hunt with all of the features of western Minnesota in the fall built right in. We are open for business from the beginning of September and run through the month of March. We have over 165 acres of prime pheasant hunting property with medium to thick prairie grass cover that rolls down through some spectacular Oak savanna grassland into the Minnesota River Valley. Our property is ideal for small to medium sized groups of hunters looking for an all day hunt. We can also accommodate corporate groups of up to 20 hunters. Our daily package rates are very reasonable with No Membership Fees.

Our Guided Dove Hunts
With the new addition of Dove Hunting in Minnesota in 2004, this has opened up a fantastic hunting opportunity for us at the Watson Hunting Camp. We were able to invite our most valuable customers out last fall for a spectacular guided dove hunt that is World Class! This will be our second year of offering guided dove hunts and last year was a big success! Be sure to contact Chuck today to reserve one of his limited dove hunts for the 2008 dove season! As with all of the wild bird hunts, lodging and meals are available to ensure you have an excellent hunting experience!

Whitetail Deer

Shotgun Whitetail Deer Hunts
The Watson Hunting Camp has over 800 acres of private land right in the middle of the Minnesota River Valley of the Lac Qui Parle Management Area in western Mn. This land is designated exclusively for their deer hunters. Owner/head whitetail deer hunting guide Chuck Ellingson has been hunting this area for over 25 years and has patterned these big bucks. Chuck has spent countless hours building and strategically placing over 20 stands in the areas where he knows the deer are known to work year after year. With the aid of a wildlife sanctuary in very close proximity to some of his land, Chuck has the advantage of holding some monster bucks that go relatively undisturbed during the rest of the year. Chuck breaks up the MN firearm's season into three, two day hunts- lodging included.

Archery Whitetail Deer Hunts
For those of you who like to get a jump on the rest of the hunters and enjoy a more secluded whitetail hunt, the Watson Hunting Camp also caters to your crowd. You will enjoy access to the same 800 acres that is located next to the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Sanctuary that the firearms hunters will be invading later on in the year. This is a non-guided hunt where you will be placed right amongst the big boys and will be able to go one on one with the best western MN has to offer. This hunt also includes first class lodging within five minutes of your stand!

Muzzleloader Whitetail Deer Hunts
The muzzleloader season is becoming more popular with Minnesota deer hunters each year and for good reason. The Watson Hunting Camp has enjoyed great success the last few years guiding hunters to late season bucks who have eluded hunters during the regular firearms season. Head guide Chuck Ellingson has over 800 acres of private land to hunt but also has thousands and thousands of public land in the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Management Area at his disposal. This land is virtually desolate during the month of December and with some accurate scouting, Chuck is able to put his hunters on game! Again this hunt includes first class lodging.

Watson Hunting Camp Lodging Rates
Our accommodations are available on a per night basis. Prices listed are per room based upon double occupancy. Per night lodging reservations include continental breakfast only.

The new main lodge sleeps up to sixteen hunters comfortably. We have all modern kitchen appliances, bath house with sauna and a great room with satellite TV.

Other Services

Our renovated barn, the new lodge, is also available to host corporate and group outings. It's a fully heated and insulated building with a full bar and tables. It offers a great place to gather and wind down after the hunt is complete.
