Inshore FishingMillions of gallons per day flow past Venice and spreads out into one of the largest brackish water estuaries in the world.
The extremely fertile rich waters from the american heartland spread out after reaching Venice creating habitat for the most diverse fishing to be found in the continental US.
A cast into these bountiful water could bring a strike from a 5 lb Largemouth or a 30 lb. Red fish. The shorelines abound with Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder and numerous other species. We we even get a run of Striped Bass every year.
In 2003 the Bassmaster Classic was won in the Venice area. Contenders willingly made a 2 hours trip one way just to fish the Venice area. Unfortunate some days, the Pro Bass Anglers complained that they couldn't get the Redfish to leave them alone.
The Pro RedFish Circuit hears similar complaints that they would have their sights set on a big red when a 3 lb. bass crashed their topwater plug. What a problem to have!
Offshore FishingThe bottom in the northern Gulf of Mexico consists of a gradual sloping mud bottom void of any structure with the exception of the thousands of oil platforms. The platforms provide the structure needed for the crustaceans and small bait fish to hide. This in turn sets up a food chain for the vast variety of fish found in the gulf.
The oil platforms provide the structure needed for crustaceans small bait fish to hide. This in turn sets up the food chain for the vast variety of fish found in the Gulf. Bottom feeders such as Snapper and Grouper can be found at the lower levels while Cobia, Amberjack, Mackerel and numerous other species will be found in the middle and upper levels. The oil platforms in the shallow waters near shore hold Speckled Trout and Red fish while the deepwater structures gather schools of Wahoo, Tuna, Dolphin and Marlin.
You never know what's on the end of your line when fishing around the oil platforms. That's why so many anglers love FISHING THE OIL PLATFORMS!
