At Tatlow Mountain Outfitters we are licenced BC Hunting Guides and Outfitters offering guided big game hunts in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia, Canada. We have the exclusive guiding rights to over 1000 square miles of prime big game country in the heart of the Chilcotin Mountains. Our guiding area lies partially within the Ts’yl-os and Nuntsi Provincial Parks; your assurance that the wilderness will continue to remain pristine and wild. We specialize in ‘Fair Chase’ mountain hunts and follow traditions set forth by our forefathers. We access this terrain on horseback, hiking, boating and (strictly limited use) of 4x4. We offer our new friends top notch accommodations, knowledgeable licensed hunting guides and excellent big game populations within one of Canada’s premier hunting destinations.

 Each season we limit the amount of hunters in our guiding area helping to maintain the highest sustainable quality of hunting. At Tatlow Mountain Outfitters we are proud members of GOABC (the Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia) and we are committed to taking care of the wildlife and the land that serves us, making certain that its remains the hidden gem that it is today.

The big game hunts we offer are: California Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Trophy Mule Deer, Moose, Black Bear, Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, Wolf, and Coyote.

Hunts Offered

Tatlow Mountain Outfitters has the exclusive guiding rights to over 1,000 square miles of prime big game country. Our wilderness area consists of mountains, glaciers, alpine meadows, valley bottoms, and clear blue lakes. The guide area is partially within Ts’yl-os and Nuntsi Provincial Parks, assurance that it will remain pristine and natural. With extremely low road access, your main transportation while hunting is done by classic horseback, hiking, and boat. The big game hunts we offer are: California Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Trophy Mule Deer, Moose, Black Bear, Cougar, Lynx, Bobcat, Wolf, and Coyote. All of our hunts are fair chase hunts. The hunts are run out of our main lodge in the beautiful Gunn Valley, 135 km south west of Williams Lake. We provide comfortable accommodations in a uniquely remote mountain setting. Hunters can arrive at the lodge via vehicle (a pick-up truck is best), floatplane, or pick up in Williams Lake can be arranged. Come as a client and leave a member of our family!

About The Area

Our exclusive guiding area covers approximately 1,000 sq. miles of rugged mountains, lush green valleys, pristine lakes, and alpine meadows. The clean blue waters of Chilko lake and river make our natural boundary to the west. To the east, Taseko lake and river make up our eastern boundary. The south is guarded by the vast glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Chilcotin mountain range. To the north is a large old burn within the area known as the Brittany Triangle.

The wilderness territory is partially within both Ts'yl-os and Nuntsi Provincial Parks, further assurance that this area will always remain remote and wild. Elevation within our area will run from 4000 feet on the shores of Chilko lake to a staggering 10,000 foot Mount Tatlow.

Fishing
The fishing in our area can only be described as world class. Our high mountain lakes offer wild rainbow trout, bull trout, and dolly varden. With an abundance of insect life and cold mountain streams feeding the lakes, the fish remain in top "fighting" condition. June and July are the best times to book for those seeking the native rainbows, later summer produces the best fishing for massive bull trout. All of this great fishing action can be enjoyed by fly and spin-cast fisherman. Experienced professional guides are available to help ensure you get to the fish.

Pack Trips
Pack Trips are a great way to get away from it all and experience the spectacular vistas is to book a multi-day pack trip. Guides, with horses in tow, will take you to places dominated by rugged beauty, snow-capped mountains, and abundant wildlife. These all-inclusive trips, are a must for those who have some riding experience and are looking for a riding vacation unlike any other.

Alpine Hiking
Day hiking out of the main lodge into alpine is a great adventure. Hikers will take a packed lunch and head up for a day of awesome exploration. Mountain goats are often seen and photographed on these hikes. Guided and non-guided hikes are available. Hikers can spend a night in the mountains at one of our camps and enjoy a true clear mountain morning like most will never see.

About Us

Your Outfitters
Mike started his guiding career over 10 years ago in the Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia. He learnt the many aspects of the guiding industry under renowned outfitter, Rush Dalziel. Mike spent two years with Rush, guiding and packing hunters into the remote mountains of the southern chilcotin.

His first guided hunt was for a mountain goat, which was successful and he became hooked on the thrill of guiding for life. Mike and his wife, Karen, then moved on to different outfits to gain the knowledge and experience they share with their clients today.

While guiding in northern BC, he guided successful hunts for Stone Sheep, Grizzly, Mountain Goat, Trophy Moose, Mountain Caribou, and Black Bear. He spent some time as an outfitter in central BC, during that time he operated a cattle ranch and a guiding outfit. Moose, Black Bear, Mule Deer, Wolf, Lynx, and Wolverine were the species that were hunted within the guiding area. After many prosperous years, as a guide and a trapper, he yearned for the mountains and the animals that inhabited them.

Mike is committed to becoming one of the best outfitters in BC. Those are big boots to fill, but with always expecting more from himself than anyone else, he knows he is on the right trail.

Your Crew
All the guides for Tatlow mountain are hand-picked, with years of knowledge and experience. No two guides are exactly alike and each has strong attributes that help us be one of the best outfits out there today. We feel fortunate to be able to have such an incredible team to offer to our clients. We consider our horses as part of the crew, they are just as important to our success as anything. The horses are chosen for their good mind, good foot, good bone, and sure-footedness. We take great care of our string of mountain horses, knowing they in turn will take care of our clients. Our seasonal staff measure up to the rest of the outfit and with everything in place we are able to offer our clients an ultimate adventure of a life time!

Your Accommodations
Our cabins are comfortably rustic log structures in a spectacular mountain setting. We also offer a large main lodge with an outdoor covered deck - here all meals are served. It is also the main place that everyone gets together for good times and great stories. All the client cabins are a very short hike from the lodge, on the shores of scenic Tuzcha Lake. In addition, our friendly western hospitality will have you feeling like this is truly a home away from home.
