The focus of Tall Grass Safaris would be to allow the serious hunter and the family man with kids the opportunity to get to know the South African environment , its people, cultures, traditions, food and wine while at the same time experiencing the fun of hunting in Africa.  TG offers a balanced approach to the hunting experience allowing the client and his family/friends time to enjoy the experience while being put in areas where the is abundant game and scenic splendour.  We offer exposure to the preparation of traditional SA meals such as koeksister, pofadder, malva , biltong, wine, and activities such as trophy prep & meats processing (biltong, skinning etc) as part of the fun.

Tom De Waal and Dirk Harris are both two fun loving individuals who have a deep love for Africa and appreciate nature in its untouched form. With the help of Dr.Peter Harris and Frans Gresse they aim to build Tall Grass Safaris up to be one of the greatest safari companies in the world.

Both Tom and Dirk were born in South Africa and have intimate knowledge of the South African bush. Their motto, if you could call it that, is to do whatever they do to the best of their ability, or not do it at all.

Tom De Waal has been privileged enough to work close to nature for the past 20 years. His commitment to his tasks is one of his most admirable qualities. His ability to always see the positive side of a situation, makes him a great person to be around. Tom is a great story-teller and always manages to make one laugh.

Dirk Harris, son of the well known Professional hunter Peter Harris, has grown by his dad’s side and has absorbed a lot of knowledge passed down to him by his father. His studies in Tourism and Marketing have paved the way for him to follow in his father’s footsteps. According to Dirk, one of the most important concepts within the business is to ensure that a client’s needs are always catered for, as clients are the lifeblood of the business and without them there would be no Tall Grass Safaris.

Dr. Peter Harris, has been involved in the safari industry for more than 25 years and oversees all Tall Grass Safaris activities. His knowledge and experience has been extremely valuable in the establishment of the business. Peter acts as a mentor and guiding hand to both Tom and Dirk.

Frans Gresse is Tall Grass Safaris main professional hunter. He has also been involved in the industry for a number of years and has a great knowledge of the outdoors. Frans is also one of the easiest people to get along with and always puts the clients needs first.

Eastern Cape—Kudu, Bushbuck and Caracal
Spend 7 days hunting in majestic coastal region of South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. Animals included in the package are Kudu, Bushbuck, Caracal, Springbuck, Duiker and Impala.

We offers aldo Bushveld, Lion, Buffalo Cow, Lioness, Freestate Longshot, Buffalo Cow & Warthog and Lioness hunting.

Tall Grass Safari’s offers Game fishing as well as Tigerfishing safari’s to compliment our other packages. The Game fishing takes place along the Eastern Cape coastline while the Tigerfishing is done in the Komati river in Mpumalanga province.

Game Fishing
The warm current along the Eastern Coast of South Africa offers a lot with regards to deep sea game fishing. Speices found in the current include game fish species such as Marlin, Tuna, Mako Shark, Garrick, Yellowtail, Shad and Mackerel as well as hundreds of Reef fish species.
