Lick Skillet Plantation

Private Quail Hunting,Thomasville Style
Lick Skillet Plantation is one of the few private Red Hills quail plantations that are open to the public. It is located on the banks of the pristine Aucilla River, in Lamont, Florida, just 45 minutes from the Tallahassee and Thomasville airports. Lick Skillet Plantation is one of the select properties protected under a conservation easement by Tall Timbers. It is just east of Ted Turner’s 29,000-acre Avalon Plantation.

The grounds include the best-managed North Florida/South Georgia quail habitat with the additional beauty of the Aucilla River. Quail hunting is available from either horseback, Jeep or walking. Duck hunting is on the 60 acre Crossway Pond on the "tramline."

Lick Skillet Plantation The Plantation
Lick Skillet is a private hunting plantation, not a commercial shooting preserve. Limited hunting opportunities for public, corporate and charity hunts are made available each year. When your group is on the plantation you have exclusive privileges and can tailor activities according to your wishes.

The Lodge
The plantation is an all-inclusive full service Lodge with a professionally decorated cypress lodge that sleeps up to eight guests. Your own private Chef prepares all your meals. Evening meals are a special treat and since there is no printed menu you can work out the menus with your Chef before you arrive at the plantation. Our meals have been quoted as “the best meals we have ever experienced”. Dinners at Lick Skillet Plantation are truly a memorable event.

Family opportunities and custom adventures are encouraged, canoes and kayaks are available for float trips from one of the private landings (circa 1650), an 18’ Hewes Redfisher is available for our guests captained by our own private USCG captain with 33 years experience on Florida waters. Trips are made out of the nearby Blue Creek near Keaton Beach. XXX acre Federal Wildlife Refuge (over 85% of our coastline is undeveloped coastal marsh) skeet shooting & fly-fishing classes by former Orvis Endorsed instructor is available along with a gourmet cooking school.

The Dogs Skillet Plantation
A description wouldn’t be complete without bragging about the birddogs. The plantation is the training grounds for some of the finest athletes in the country and commonly has over 40 dogs in the string. Lick Skillets, 2008 brag dog, Skillet’s No Gentleman, has won or placed in xx field trials and was the Michigan runner up xx. Miss Dixie Anne has won the prestigious xx trials. For our hunters who prefer close ranging dogs, we have that was formerly one of the finest Orvis Endorsed bird dog programs in the country. Our Dogs will bring to you an incredible memorable experience that you will never forget.
