Welcome to Alberta Big Game Hunts. We are a full service big game outfitter and offer trophy big game hunting at it's best.
All of the big game hunts take place in northern Alberta. Our large hunting areas will allow you to have the best chances to harvest these great animals.
These trophy hunts are in the deep bush country, and some of the best hunting territory in the world. Hunting in the bush allows the animals to reach full trophy quality because of it's remoteness.
Most of these animals have not had much human contact which allows you, the hunter, a better chance to take such a great trophy. This is truly a hunter's paradise.
Our accommodations are very comfortable here at Alberta Big Game Hunts.
Our camp consists of a cook trailer and a sleeping trailer.
The cook trailer has a big kitchen for our excellent chefs to work their magic. The meals are always first class. Dinners include prime rib, turkey, chicken, steak etc. Gaining weight will be a factor. Our cooks Murray and Lorainne always outdo themselves. There is also a big dining room to enjoy their culinary creations.
A freezer is also available to store your big game.
The sleeping quarters consist of four rooms with 3 beds in each room.
These trailers come equipped with lighting and electric heat. Showers are also available daily. Additionally, there is a big wall tent for use as a dining/rec room. TV will be available to watch footage of the hunts.
Bear HuntTrophy black bear hunts are probably one of the most exciting hunts a person can experience in their lives. A typical bear hunt is generally pretty comfortable too.
Breakfast is usually from 8 - 10pm. Afterwards is a good opportunity to double check equipment or take that last shot to put your mind at ease. Some fishing may also be part of the plan for the day. By the time 2pm rolls around it's time for a late lunch and, as usual, Murray and Lorraine will have a great meal prepared.
After lunch it's off to the stand. These stands are accessible by either boat, 4 wheeler or by pickup (so age or fitness level is not an issue). Most of these stands are platforms with a comfortable chair. Sitting there for any length of time isn't difficult. In fact, because the active baits are so entertaining, the time flies by.
Once it's dark, your guide will be there to pick you up and head back to camp. If you've been successful with the hunt then it's up to your guide's discretion whether or not the bear is retrieved that evening or the following morning. Once arrived at camp there will be more food waiting for you and a nice hot shower. Then wait until morning and do it again.
Whitetail Deer HuntTrophy Whitetail hunting will start very early in the morning. You will awake to a great home cooked breakfast. Then its off to the stand of choice picked by your guide. To reach these stands, you will be off on the road by pickup or 4 wheeler. Dressing warm is a MUST.
You will be hunting cutblocks, cut lines and river bottoms. Hunting Whitetails in the rut will allow you to see many deer because they will be on the move looking for the does. It is not uncommon to see 10 - 20 different bucks a day, but remember it only takes one.
Once the day comes to an end your guide will pick you up and it's off to camp. The stay at camp will be very comfortable, complete with heated trailer and hot showers. The food alone (prepared by Murray and Lorraine) will keep you coming back.
Moose HuntMoose hunting occurs at the same time as deer hunting. Hunting moose in mid-late November can be a little more challenging than during the rut. The calling technique generally does not work very well at this time and so other methods such as tracking and just a familiarity with the land (and our guides know these areas well), are what works best.
When a moose is down just the size of this great animal can be pretty overwhelming. Be prepared to spend some time and effort in getting the moose to the road where the picker truck can then manage things from there. Moose don't always fall when you shoot them so there's work in getting them out of the bush. Everyone usually sees this as an adventure.
After all that excitment and fresh air, camp will be a nice way to wind down. You can look forward to 1st class meals prepared by Murray and Lorraine. The food is fantastic. Then relax in the comfort of heated rooms and a hot shower.
These days are a little shorter. The hunts are from 8am - 5pm so there will be more free time to relax, watch hunting videos and prepare for the next day. After such days, relaxing is probably the best way to spend your time. After all, it is a holiday.
