LEGEND OF WISCOY VALLEY
Whitetails are notorious for becoming nocturnal as soon as they feel threatened by day time activity. Nocturnal whitetail has been and always will be a problem. Here are some ways to make it work for you, and get the big bucks during daylight hours.
Overview
A simple, one man hunt on fresh snow puts our hunter in woods his paying clients have bypassed on the second afternoon of shotgun season. Each hunter knew of the local legendary buck and was allowed to hunt him. The buck eluded harvest and every trail cam put up to record his nocturnal activity. They tried hard but always came back empty handed, or with a smaller buck. Today, the clients continued to hunt the hotspots while he takes the path less traveled. The deep snow provides solitude in the un-hunted wood lot nestled among the ridges of the famous Wiscoy Valley in south east Minnesota, which this day provides refuge for the local legend.
A snow covered stump, a patient hunter and a stream of does using the woods as a travel lane lures the legend from his secret hideaway. One shot, a short track in the deep snow and the Legend is officially scored at 202 7/8.
