Modern hunting has brought us the most advanced weapons, equipment you can afford and accommodations to make hunting a lot easier and enjoyable. This stuff wasn't around when our ancestors hunted for food; for them it was a lot harder. Still, today hunters need to be very careful, because modern life has surrounded us with a lot of disadvantages that our forerunners didn't have to deal with, like smelly soaps and lotions or electronic gadgets; even our clothes, with artificial fibers and featuring colors that aren't normally found in nature. These work against us in a hunt and if you plan to catch a very good trophy, you can’t leave these facts outside the equation.
Modern technology puts to our disposition plenty of ways to disguise ourselves, with a lot of different patterns that allow us to be concealed in any terrain. Remember that a good camo will make you invisible to your prey. Pick your camo ahead of time, right after scouting the area. That way you will select a camo that suits you well and blends with the environment better.
Another important thing you have to be aware of is that you should paint your rifle too. You will blend better with your surroundings and diminish the light’s reflection on your weapon.
You have to make your camo clothes odor free. It is nearly impossible to remove human scent from your clothes, but you can diminish the scent using various techniques. Be sure to pick a good odor-blocker and then, after you treat your clothes with the blocker, store them carefully in an odor-free bag and seal them away until they are needed. You can use charcoal near the area you stored your hunting outfit, to absorb any remaining odor near it. It is also advisable to use a scent-killer just before you bag the outfit and check more than once that your clothes are really, really dry. It’s recommended that you hang your camo outfits while dry and leave them out of the house to prevent human odors to get attached all over them. Don't mix the hunting outfit with your regular clothing; you will fail in you hunting due to the odor and the stains giving you away. Remember how keen the senses of the animals you plan to hunt are.
