The Black Bears are omnivores usually kill young deer or moose calves, is the most common and the smallest species of bears, the tail is usually 4.8 inches (12 cm) long, He is the most adaptable bear. Bears live in forested areas but they leave it to go in search of food, occasionally they become to human communities looking for it. Average lifespan is around 10 though upward of 30 years in the wild.
They population is estimated to be over 300,000 in the United States. Nonetheless, Louisiana black bears and Florida black bears are threatened subspecies with small populations.
American Black Bear is register by IUCN as Least Concern, because of the species widespread distribution and a large global population.
They tend to be solitary animals, with the exception of mothers and cubs. The bears usually forage alone, but will tolerate each other and forage in groups.
American black bears are reproductively compatible with several other bear species, and have occasionally produced hybrid offspring.
In Autumn of 1986 in Michigan a huge black bear was shot, it was considered by some as a black bear/grizzly bear hybrid owing to this unusual large size and large braincase and skull.DNA testing was unable to determine whether it was a black bear or grizzly!
Pelage: The fur is soft, is not as coarse as that of brown bears. Black bear skins can be distinguished from those of Asiatic black bears by the lack of a white mark on the chin and hairier footpads.
Dietary: In northern regions, Bears eat spawning salmon 85% of bear's diet is based of vegetation even though they tend to dig less than brown bears.

The black bear can be found in many color phases from black, chocolate brown, cinnamon brown, pale blue known as glacier bears.
Black bears will often have a brown muzzle and may have a lighter color patch on its chest.
